If we think of travel illustrations, Martin Haake comes straight to our mind. His first pictured book, City Atlas (2016), was translated into 15 languages and was our first blog entry ;-))
Today we want to share with you some of his illustrations. He plays around with roughs, paint, draw and cut paper, and then put it all together on the computer, where he does the composition and work on details. Martin’s work is influenced by outsider art, children’s book illustrations from the 1950s and vintage board-game design. But his all-time hero is Saul Steinberg.
We love his maps, and his daily life illustrations that shows how is life in different cities. He has been living and working in Hamburg and London and now he is settle in Berlin, definitely a wonderful inspiration.
